The Day Carl Sandburg Died Documentary

A new documentary, “The Day Carl Sandburg Died” will premiere on Tuesday, July 26th at the Flat Rock Playhouse.

The Friends of Carl Sandburg at Connemara along with Bonesteel Films will host a showing of the  feature-length documentary on the life, legacy and influence of Carl Sandburg.  The film is a labor of love of sorts for Flat Rock’s Paul Bonesteel.  Bonesteel, son of Pete and Georgia Bonesteel, spent six years researching and filming the documentary.

The film, which highlights Sandburg’s contributions to folk music, poetry, children’s literature and history, features interviews with scholars, friends and admirers including Pete Seager and biographer Penelope Niven.  Sandburg’s own daughter, Helga, is also interviewed.

A pre-performance reception will begin at 7:00 followed by the documentary at 8:00.  A brief Q&A session will follow the film.

Tickets available through the Flat Rock Playhouse Box Office by calling (828)693-0731.

General Admission for the July 26th screening of the Sandburg documentary is $15, and $10 for students.
