|Carl Sandburg Home – National Historic Site
||Tour the home of America’s poet, Carl Sandburg and visit Conemara Farms Goat Dairy. The 30-minute guided tour of the home includes over 65,000 artifacts on display and gives a glimpse into the lives of the Sandburg family. Tours are offered daily, (except Christmas day) for a nominal fee. Though the goat dairy is no longer operational, kids and kids at heart will love visiting with the goats and viewing other farm animals. Hiking Trails from casual to strenuous dot the landscape. The Sandburg Home or “Carl’s House” as many locals call it, is located just across the street from the Flat Rock Playhouse.
|Flat Rock Playhouse
||The Flat Rock Playhouse is the State Theatre of North Carolina. Annual performances include a professional series; a summer and fall college apprentice and intern program; performance series by the YouTheatre; year-round classes and workshops for students from kindergarten through adults. The Playhouse is located one block from The Wrinkled Egg and is across the street from the Carl Sandburg home. The Playhouse also has a satellite location on Main Street in downtown Hendersonville.
|Little Rainbow Row
||Little Rainbow Road is the name of the little strip of shops at the intersection of Greenville Highway (Hwy 225) and W. Blue Ridge Road. The name pays homage to Charleston’s Rainbow Row as do many local businesses and buildings. Little Rainbow Row is the heart of the Village of Flat Rock in more ways than one. This corner has long been the hub of town. The Wrinkled Egg marks the corner. This building operated as Peace’s Grocery Store for over 90 years before becoming “the Egg”. You’ll also find the Flat Rock Village Bakery, Hubba Hubba Smokehouse and Hubba Hubba Catering, Sweet Magnolia Gallery, the Cherry Cottage and, in season, the Flat Rock Tailgate Market at this location. Watch for free-ranging chickens along the row.
|Sky Top Orchard
||Sky Top Orchard is located less than 4 miles from Little Rainbow Road off Hwy 225 (Greenville Hwy). Apples, pumpkins, donuts, seasonal produce, farm animals, hay rides, photo ops and much more. Open August – December.
